Spring Blouse

What advice would you give someone starting this project? Read all the comments before starting. I created a back piece in a trapezoid-shape, about 27" across the top, 14" down the angled sides and 20" across the bottom. Then, I cut a slightly rounded 7" neckline in the top-center. I cut the front panels on the fold, seamed them and used them doubled; that way the v-neck and sleeves are lined and pre-finished. I sewed a seam up each side, closing the front to the back pieces, creating a sort of kimono sleeve, leaving 8" open. (The lace cami is from Aeropostale!)

Q&A with cinchud4513605

debberstx asked:
I have had this pattern for a while and finally decided to try it. I just do not understand the cut of the back piece. Obviously you figured it out. Can you help? I haven't found a way to communicate with the pattern's creator. Your grey top looks great!!
cinchud4513605 answered:
Yeah, you really do have to kind of wing it! I started with a rectangle for the back piece, tapered it down a little from the shoulders to the waist and rounded the neckline. I gave my measurements in the description, I'm a size 10 or so, 36C bust, 30" waist. I made a mock up of the whole shirt out of an old sheet before I cut the fabric to test out the fit, it worked better with the stretch jersey.
