Eggplant Wool Melton Coat

What are you most proud of? I've never made a winter coat before. This pattern was much more challenging than the class project but as this was a Christmas gift for my daughter she got to pick the pattern! The pattern is McCall's 6800. Keeping track of all the pieces seemed daunting(this is princes seemed) until I came up with a system of using colored sticky dots to keep everything labeled! Worked like a charm. I also am very happy with the fit. I had to do some altering to get it right in the shoulder/ upper back & chest area as she is quite slender there. I didn't want it too tight tho because she wanted to be able to get a sweater underneath. What advice would you give someone starting this project? Take it step by step & stay organized.

Wow! How artfully you constructed this lovely coat. That's a garment that will get passed down a few generations.
Mhval answered:
I hope you are right about that! It was a lot of work. Just hunting down the eggplant wool took time. But you are right that the eggplant with the cerise lining makes a much more artful presentation than a black. Thanks for your comment.
