Batik Camp Shirt

Used the New Look pattern number 6197. If you are considering buying this pattern, go to JoAnn’s where you can get it for $3.99. I bought it off of Amazon for $11.00. The pattern is okay but needs some adjustments. There is no facing on the yoke which I found bizarre. Luckily I had bought extra fabric and was able to cut a second yoke so I could face it. The class is great. Instructions in the pattern only go so far. I used a combination of the pattern instructions and advice from the instructor and it came out much better than I could have expected. Especially since it was my first real garment I’ve sewn in a couple of decades. This was a size medium and fits fairly well. Perfect fit through the shoulders, a little “blousy” though, so if you want a slimmer fit you’ll want to make alterations to the pattern. I will probably bring the sleeves in a bit for my next go.
