Pattern Details

This makes a small zip around wallet that does not fit most phones. The pattern to use if you want to carry your phone is my other wallet pattern that is the checkbook and tablet size zip around. This pattern produces a professionally made bag. If you look at expensive designer bags in the department stores and think "If only I knew the steps to take and had a pattern to follow, I could make a bag this perfect and beautiful," then this pattern is for you. If you look at those bags and think making one would be impossible, then you are not ready. I get a lot of questions about whether a beginner can make some of the things I make. Most of the time I say yes. For this pattern, I am going to say no. This pattern is for the experienced sewist who cuts, marks and sews carefully. If that describes you, you are going to be as thrilled as I am every time you finish one of these little masterpieces. The instructions include my method for making a hinged zippered pocket - the change pocket. I think you will love it. This wristlet wallet is designed to fit smartphones, credit cards, ID, cash and change. If you use an iPhone with a non-slip rubber skin on it, you will need the flap closure pocket to fit it. If your phone has no rubber skin, it will fit in the outside zippered pocket. One option for the back outside pocket is an ID window. These are popular for college students. With careful attention to detail, no one will ever suspect you made this bag. BASIC SKILLS NECESSARY You need to be comfortable behind the wheel of your sewing machine to make this project. You need to cut accurately, mark accurately, and stitch accurately. You need to have a walking foot and be comfortable with it. You need to be comfortable with installing zippers. You need to be glad to apply piping and not wish you could skip it. You need to have a fresh sewing machine needle and not be sewing on the same dull needle you have had in there for the last 10 projects. You have to be okay with some hand basting. SIZING / FINISHED MEASUREMENTS Finished size: 5.75" x 3.75" x 1"

Recommended with this pattern

  • 1/3 yard of fabric

Like so many sewists I know, I have been sewing since the age of 6. I started at my mother's feet, fashioning her scraps into doll clothes. By age 16, I was spending Summers sewing my wardrobe for the coming school year. I was known as a creative dresser. I wrote my first sewing pattern in 2006 as part of applying for a patent. Now I have thousands of satisfied sewing pattern customers and am very happy to be part of the online sewing community. See books that feature my work and follow my various adventures on my blog.
