Pattern Details

This plush is made to look like a cute, chubby, hand-held version of a narwhal. It features tiny fins and a spiral horn, though you can leave off the horn to make a cute whale. The details are done with applique so there's no need for an embroidery machine, though you can use safety eyes as well. The fabric used in the sample is minky, though any other plush fabric with a moderate stretch would work well.

Recommended with this pattern

  • 1/4 yd. (or 9" x 16") of stretchy plush fabric for main body
  • 1/4 yd. (or 9" x 10") of stretchy plush accent fabric for belly & horn
  • 2" x 2" piece of black applique fabric for eyes

Sew Desu Ne?
Sew Desu Ne?
Hello! My name is Choly Knight and I'm a seamstress of over 15 years from Orlando, Florida. I've been sewing since middle school and have yet to put my machine away. I'm the author of several craft books from Fox Chapel Publishing, including Sew Kawaii!, the Sew Me! series, Craft Projects for Minecraft, and more to come! I studied Art and English in college, so it's been a dream come true getting to work in a field that lets me combine my passions for writing, fine art, and craft art. I'm deeply inspired by Asian and Japanese art and craft as well as anime and kawaii style. The anime community has been more supportive than anyone as I ventured to learn to sew, so you'll find my designs are heavily influenced by that style.
