              PATTERN DETAILS

              The Denim Dolly is a delightful item for young girls, or their older sisters. Aunts and mums will also fall in love with her! Hang her up in your sewing room, or sit her on a shelf! Every time you look at her she will make you smile. Her whacky hair is such fun, and the embellishments on her dress really pretty. She is made from recycled jeans. After you have made one, you will be keen to experiment, and make your own personal embellishments When you download this pattern you will find 7 pages of illustrated clear instruction, and one page with full sized head and dress templates. BASIC SKILLS NECESSARY : Competence with a sewing machine and basic sewing skills are required to make the dolly. There are no zips, or fastenings. Three variations are offered within the pattern. SIZING / FINISHED MEASUREMENTS The length from the tip of her hair to the base of her feet measures 15".

              PATTERN DETAILS

              Recommended with this pattern

              • An old pair of denim trousers Sewing machine with denim needle. Blue/dark grey or similar machine threads for the denim. Small piece of tracing paper. 10 cms of white or cream, medium-to-fine weight calico (muslin) Suitable threads/floss for hand embroidery Soft toy filling/polyester filling for head and limbs. Basic Hand sewing equipment. Suitable scraps of fabric for "jumper" and or "socks", if desired. I use a "purple thang" for pushing out corners. Something similar required if you don't have one. Small coloured buttons; and a 6" piece of an alternative colour of denim, for versions 2 and 3. A brightly coloured strip of fabric 3/4" wide x 20" long, for version 3. Rotary cutting equipment.

              I am passionate about stitching, and an experienced teacher of quilting, design and crafts. I love supporting and helping students to share my passion. When I was growing up, there was always some sewing; spinning; weaving; hand dyeing ;craft making etc., going on around me at home, and I actually made my first dress when I was only 11 years old, with my Mums help, of course! I loved any opportunity to sew and create ideas from then on. I opened a small patchwork supplies business at home, when our family were young, and started teaching patchwork. This grew from a hobby to a career, and I have been teaching for the last 25 years. Now I am putting all those skills into writing clear and detailed patterns for projects. The instructions are supported by photographs at every stage. My selection of patterns is very varied, and will have appeal to a range of abilities, from beginner to the more experienced. They make fantastic presents as well as being great for personal use and enjoyment. All proceeds from selling my patterns will be given to a charity which helps to lift destitute women out of poverty. They are taught to sew and given a second hand sewing machine.
