I wanted to design a clutch that had the excitement of a perfectly wrapped gift! A structured, zipped clutch where the bow is not "stuck on", instead it's integrated into the body of the front panel which gathers up to form the bow. You can lengthen or shorten the length of the bow as desired.. My step-by-step instructions include loads of clear photos & diagrams. All measurements are quoted in both metric & inches. Take a look at some of the clutches my customers have made on my Facebook page If you wish add an interesting zip pull (such as the tassel pictured), I have posted some free tutorials on my blog: This design would suit wide variety of fabrics, including light-weight fabrics as the exterior fabric is re-inforced with fusible interfacing. Duchess satin, cotton, denim, silks, brocade, lurex etc etc. BASIC SKILLS NECESSARY use zipper foot fuse interfacing make pleats stitch at various seam allowances trim seams SIZING / FINISHED MEASUREMENTS approx. 29cm (11 1/2") long x 14 cm (51/2") wide x 5cm (1 3/4") depth at the base

Recommended with this pattern

  • Fabric for the clutch exterior 60 cm (24") length
  • Fabric for lining: 20cm (8") length
  • Pellon ShapeFlex Woven Fusible #SF-101 or Vilene Woven fusible G700. If 90cm (35 1/2") wide you will need 40cm (16") length; if 51cm (20") wide, you will need 70cm (27 1/2")length.

I have been making and sewing since I can remember & have also worked as an accessory designer & pattern maker for a number of years. I love hand-made but don't believe it should equal messy or amateur looking! I want to help others who feel the same achieve a satisfying, quality finish. My patterns are based on the little tips and tricks I have devised over the years to get professional results using a domestic sewing machine and easily available materials.
