Using the Zipper Foot

Your sewing machine's zipper foot can insert standard zippers, invisible zippers, even piping and trims. Learn how to use this special foot with our classes, articles and more!

What Is a Zipper Foot?

The zipper foot is a versatile presser foot with indents for the needle to move through on either side of the foot, so you can sew a standard zipper without the zipper teeth interfering. A zipper foot comes with (or is available for) all sewing machines. Your zipper foot may look slightly different from the one shown here. This foot is great for other techniques, too, such as inserting an invisible zipper without a special invisible zipper foot, or stitching piping. Get to know and love your zipper foot!
