Project

Sunshine and Rainbows

What are you most proud of? I found once I got the hang of it making the doublets easy. Most difficult was the gradation fabric. I like how it came together and is striking. This is out of the box for me as far as type of quilt and I got to work more on designing quilting as I went. Feel good about the results. Will be doing more!! This quilt came about as a Theme for our quilt show Sunshine, Lollipops and Rainbows. What advice would you give someone starting this project? I would have been sure to trim back the dark material in the 1/4 inch seem so there would not have been a shadow as I quilted or used a thicker white.

  • For batting I used Hobbs 80/20 and Hobbs wool on top to add definition to the quilting. I use Invisafil for much of the dense quilting and Superior Magnifico for the colors in the Hyper quilted corners. Gradation fabric from the Daiwabo collection for E.E. Schenck Company I had left over from another progect. I used both sides to give the subtle effect of color change. I used one of my Rosettes from the LaPassacaglia quilt I have been working on in English Paper piecing for the center. The wall-hanging is 36x36

Q&A with intuitive1377015

Andi Perejda asked:
Wow! This came out beautifully! Are the corner motifs embroidered?? I love the color gradation and the center treatment, too.
intuitive1377015 answered:
No, I used 3 different colored threads and used thread play in the motif.
