Split Rail Homestead Quilt

I altered the instructions slightly by strip piecing 4 strips together and then cutting to size. This allowed me to make the quilt slightly larger (72x80). The top went together pretty quickly. To soften the lines in the quilt, I free motioned flowers in each square and then stitched in the ditch around each block.

You did a great job. I have the kit , but haven't put it together yet. I just love the colors. And hopefully I will be making my quilt before long. Thanks for sharing the photo.
Carol in Ptown CA answered:
Thank you. The quilt went together pretty quickly. I strip sewed 4 long pieces together and then cut apart rather than cutting each strip separately and then sewing 4 short pieces together. That yielded 5 blocks per strip set which allowed me to make the quilt a little larger. So my quilt isn’t quite as randomly pieced but overall I don’t think 5 similar blocks are noticeable and that really speeds up both the sewing and cutting. Enjoy putting yours together.
