Q&A with BlakeyD

Bwithmecreations asked:
I bought the pattern I just wanna know how you put yours together and how much fabric I would need when I put the trucks on the background squares and Did you feed use the truck onto the background square or did you just throw the trucks around the background square
BlakeyD answered:
I just sewed fabric on all sides of the feature squares, then cut them down to the size needed for the pattern. And I probably didn't do the outer border because I like to keep my baby quilts under 42" wide so I don't have to piece the back.
Bwithmecreations asked:
So when I cut the truck panel out how big is the background squares you put the trucks on and did you fuse the trucks on with fusible appliqué or did you sew around the trucks after Putting in on the background square
BlakeyD answered:
The trucks are pieced into the green border fabric, not appliqued. First cut the trucks out with a 1/4" seam allowance. Next figure out how much border you'll need by comparing the truck fabric size (without seam allowance) to the required square per the pattern (this will be different for each truck.) Then add about 1/2" plus seam allowance to make sure you have plenty of fabric and sew the border on. Finally, cut them down to size per the pattern.
Bwithmecreations asked:
I bought online the Lily & Loom Work Zone Classic Primary fat quarter bundle set and i’m wondering can I use that to make the same exact quilt you made
BlakeyD answered:
Yes I believe so, but you’d need the panel too. Double check the pattern to be sure!
