Craftsy BOM 2012

Craftsy Block of the Month 2012 finally finished! It took a year and a half! It was a lot of fun though, I'm really glad I did it. It was my first quilt ever, and I decided to make it pretty big and to quilt it to death along with Leah Day's "Free Motion Quilting a Sampler" class, so it was quite ambitious for a first time quilter. I only realised that after I started everything, and then I just had to continue. I ended up taking a few other Craftsy classes on quilting just to make sure that I could finish this quilt (classes on rotary cutting, binding, etc)! I wouldn't necessarily recommend this project for a beginner who wants to make something simple... When I realised what I had started, I wasn't sure I would ever be able to finish, and I think that can put off a lot of beginners. But I was a total beginner in quilting, and I made it, so it is definitely possible for the ambitious and confident beginner! I learned a lot of new skills, and was able to practice quilting a lot! You can really see how my quilting has evolved over time; the quilting on the first block is wobbly, on the last block, a lot less so!
