All dressed up

I loved this class. I used a green batik background that more or less matched my hazel eyes. I even bought fake eyelashes which I applied with hand stitching using transparent thread. I had recently bought a lot of variegated thread so almost everything has some sort of variegated thread stitching...the eyebrows and lower eyelashes in particular. I used lighter colored nostrils since I didn't want them to be too obvious. I picked up some white/grey/dark grey heavyweight yarn for my hair. I placed it very carefully and then placed parchment paper over it to sew it down. I used a pearl transparent thread to give a bit of life to the hair. I did free motion all over the hair and tearing away the parchment paper was a big job. I finally got out a pair of tweezers and that made it easier. I love to wear hats and the veil is from a decoration I put on a hat for a wedding last summer. The blue dress is a second attempt. I had blue and was going to make a big collar but decided instead to use some techniques from Stupendous Stitching to decorate the dress. I also used a silver thread with a decorative stitch. It worked well. I used my embellishment foot to make a pearl necklace. I used echo stitching to quilt and have not decided yet exactly how to finish the edge and whether or not I'll mount it onto a framed canvas.
