Project

A Carpenter's Star

What was your source for this quilting project? This is a traditional quilt block, I enlarged it to become a full quilt and discovered a bunch of great speed-piecing tricks along the way. It was made for my husband, a carpenter by trade, by our triplet daughters and myself. Each of us sewed one quarter of the quilt, and he loves it! I quilted it on my longarm, and we use it daily on our king-size bed. Name of website or photo Quiltscapes Link to website or photo https://www.quiltscapesqs.com/2009/10/carpenters-star-for-evan.html What are you most proud of? Made with all half-square triangles! No "Y" seams! What advice would you give someone starting this project? Use fabrics with a high contrast between lights and darks to make the design pop.

anniescrafty asked:
This is so beautiful. Did you do the quilting yourself? I am just finishing a BOM sampler (for myself) and am looking for quilting ideas.
Deonn @ Quiltscapes answered:
Yes, I did the quilting on my longarm. Just chalk a spine where you want the feathered vines to go, then quilt the feathers.
BarbP asked:
Your quilt is breathtaking and even more special having been done as a family project.
Deonn @ Quiltscapes answered:
My husband loved everything about it - the colors, the clean lines, the fact that it is called a Carpenter's Star, and especially that it was made by all four of his girls!
