1st Quilt for 1st Great Grand Baby

What are you most proud of? Most proud....picking the fabric online and having everything coordinate so beautifully....IMHO. What advice would you give someone starting this project? Go at your own speed...if a novice. I took my time...wanted it to turn out nice plus? Plus I wanted to have the time to learn from what others were doing with their quilts so I could make better decisions. And be *GENTLE* on yourself when you make mistakes.

Q&A with Eklectika Ann

f35496 asked:
Well done. You should be proud of yourself. My advice.... Practice your FMQ every day if only for 10-15 mins. Your FMQ skills will develop very quickly.
Eklectika Ann answered:
*SMILES* . . . thanks so much! Yes ~ as soon as I have the support of a table....I plan to do just that. I'm not comfortable practicing if the quilting has no end purpose. But I JUST found out about fabric/quilted postcards....and I'm very excited to practice and make postcards all at the same time!
eepsers asked:
Can't believe this is your first quilt! LOVE the multicolored yo-yo decorations with the cute buttons! Your FMQ is fantastic! And a scalloped border to boot? Wow!
Eklectika Ann answered:
Thanks, Eepers! I took my time....I mean REALLY took my time...about 4 months worth going slow and steady. I wanted it to be extra special....so didn't pressure myself to just "get-r-done" for completions sake. Perusing the Internet and alllllllllllllllllllllllllll the quilt posts and photos really helped me take a rather simple quilt to a, well, special level! Appreciate your feedback. *smiles*
Oregon Native asked:
Good for you! I love it!
Eklectika Ann answered:
Thanks! Glad you love it! *smiles*
KHazy asked:
Very sweet and cuddly!
Eklectika Ann answered:
Thanks! Sweet & cuddly were def part of my goals! *smiles*
Lori Kennedy asked:
First of all, congratulations on your first grand baby! (We just had our first in September--no quilt yet!) Your quilt is outstanding. You are an intrepid beginner--diving into some advanced techniques--Wow! did it pay off! Your quilt is gorgeous!
Eklectika Ann answered:
Aren't new babies JUST the best!?!?! I'm sure the quilt you'll be making will be an extra special one....looking forward to seeing what you create. Intrepid. Had to look that one up ~ and I like it! Thanks for all your help along the way, Lori......your expertise is and methods of teaching are what bolstered my determination to begin this quilting journey....that I'm SEW enjoying! ***smiles***
