Pattern Details

The Medal of Honor quilt was inspired by my Heavenly Host pattern. My friend Donna wanted to give a Quilt of Valor to her dear husband. She loved the Heavenly Host design, but wanted something just a bit simpler. Together we came up with this beautiful design. The Quilts of Valor Foundation (, coordinates the distribution of these mostly patriotic quilts to members of our military who have been touched by war. The quilts are to show our deep appreciation for their sacrifices and to honor them for their valiant service. Medal of Honor is designed to comply with the Quilts of Valor Foundation requirements. Please visit their website to find out more, and discover how you can honor our military with your quilt. BASIC SKILLS NECESSARY Consistent and accurage 1/4" seam FINISHED SIZE: 59" X 77"

My mother taught me to sew when I was 8 - doll clothes by hand, then she moved me on to her old Singer. But it was Home Ec in Jr. High where I discovered that sewing was my "thing.". Throughout the years, I sewed clothing and made pillows and curtains and stuff. But quilting? Just the thought of cutting a beautiful piece of fabric into little pieces and sewing them together again seemed a little crazy to me. But when my first great-niece was born, I made my first quilt for her and was hooked! As a new quilter, I couldn't find designs that were easy enough, so, I got design software and started tinkering. Now that I am retired, my life is all about my DH and quilting. Thanks to Craftsy, I am able to share my designs and patterns with you. In addition to quilt designing, I stay busy in my guild, and have a quilting business: Quiltniques! My beloved longarm is named Margie and she works hard.
