Pattern Details

Need a gift in a hurry or a replacement mug rug for your table. Then look no further than the Flip and Quilt mug rug pattern. This pattern has you stitching and quilting at the same time, making it a super speedy project. You can even add applique hearts or stars which are quilted at the same time as they are stitched. (The pattern includes full size templates for three different sized hearts and three different sized stars.) This pattern is ideal for beginners with easy-to-follow instructions, full colour diagrams and tips along the way. Experienced quilters will appreciate the simplicity and versatility of turning fabric strips into a functional mini quilt mug rug on which to rest their cup and cookie. But don't keep it to yourself - whip up a last minute gift for a teacher, friend, relative or colleague or add a touch of seasonal colour to your hall table. Or do as I have done and create a rainbow of colour for your sewing table. Whatever fabrics you choose one thing is certain - mug rug making doesn't get much quicker than the Flip and Quilt mug rug. This pattern is for personal use but permission is also granted to make this item to sell provided the item is handmade by you and you credit the Patchsmith for the design. I am the Patchsmith. I patch, applique, sew and quilt. I have been creating a life of fabric, fun and friends for many, many years. I believe a pattern should be easy to follow, with clear diagrams and full-size templates. Value is also very important to me - both in terms of fabric wastage and to the buyer. Patchwork is about sharing and that is why all my patterns are priced for everybody to afford. To contact me visit my blog ( and click on 'About the Patchsmith' or email me at
