Pattern Details

Create a named mug rug quickly and easily using quick-fuse applique and the templates included in this pattern. The Patchsmith’s alphabet includes a full set of upper-case, lower-case and mug rug letters. That is a total of 78 letters in one handy pattern. The full-size applique sheets also include a star and three hearts for you to use. These letters are perfectly sized for you to add your initials to the back of a quilt or a name to the front. The pattern includes basic instructions for creating a named mug rug. (The size of the mug rug will vary depending upon the number of letters you choose to apply.) Of course you don’t have to stick to names – you could create a holiday mug rug with ‘USA’ in red, white and blue stripes or ‘JOY’ in red and green Christmas prints. Patch the letters for a scrapilicious look or leave them plain and simple. Regardless of the fabrics you choose, one thing is certain - this is one pattern that you will return to time-and-time again. Note: These letters are for personal use only but permission is granted to use them on items you make to sell provided the item is handmade by you. No reproduction or mass production is allowed. BASIC SKILLS NECESSARY raw-edge applique also known as quick fuse applique

I am the Patchsmith. I patch, applique, sew and quilt. I have been creating a life of fabric, fun and friends for many, many years. I believe a pattern should be easy to follow, with clear diagrams and full-size templates. Value is also very important to me - both in terms of fabric wastage and to the buyer. Patchwork is about sharing and that is why all my patterns are priced for everybody to afford. To contact me visit my blog ( and click on 'About the Patchsmith' or email me at
