Couturier and author Susan Khalje received her professional training at the New York couture salon Chez Cez et Bez, and worked as a fashion designer and manufacturing supervisor on Seventh Avenue. The author of two books on fine garment sewing, Linen and Cotton and Bridal Couture, Susan established The Couture Sewing School in 1993 to teach fine sewing techniques across the country, and she annually takes a group of students to Paris for an insider's look at the couture arts. Susan, who lives and works in Baltimore, was recently honored with the Association of Sewing and Design Professionals' Lifetime Achievement Award.
