Callanish Moods

What is exciting or interesting to you about your photo(s)? Over three evenings at mid summer I was able to capture the light on the standing stones at Callanish on the Isle of Lewis in the Outer Hebrides of Scotland. On the first evening I was extremely lucky to be treated to a rainbow over the stones, not just an arc but a full arch rainbow. I captured various aspects of the scene as the rainbow developed until I got the full arch over the site. On the other two evening the light was less dramatic but no less beautiful. I was inspired to finally go to the Outer Hebrides by Jim Richardson. Thank you Jim.

  • I used my Canon EOS 5D MkII camera with either a 17-40mm L series or the 24-105 L series lenses. Some of the shots were captured with the camera on a tripod and in some cases I used Lee graduated filters.
