Materials Needed

• Instructions are provided for both worsted-weight and fingering-weight yarns.
•  Worsted weight yarn: 300 yds of 100% superwash wool, wool/nylon blend, or a cotton/wool/nylon blend. The worsted-weight sample is made in Cloudborn Superwash Merino Worsted Twist (100% superwash merino wool, 100 g = 221 yds), 2 skeins in color 14-011.
•  Fingering weight yarn: 400 yds of 100% wool, 100% superwash wool, wool/nylon blend, or cotton/wool/nylon blend. The fingering-weight sample is made in Madelinetosh Twist Light (75% superwash merino wool/25% nylon, 100 g = 420 yds), 1 skein in color Modern Fair Isle. The contrasting toe, heel, and cuff are made in Regia 4-fädig Tweed (70% wool/25% nylon/5% rayon, 50 g = 218 yds), 1 ball in color 00010. About 25 g/109 yds is plenty for the toe, heel, and cuff.
•  Needles: Worsted-weight socks: US size 5 (3.75 mm) set of four double-pointed needles or needles for your preferred method of working in the round (or size to obtain gauge). Fingering-weight socks: US size 1 (2.5 mm) set of four double-pointed needles, or needles for your preferred method of working in the round (or size to obtain gauge).
•  Gauge: Worsted weight: 6 stitches per inch in stockinette stitch worked in the round. Fingering weight: 8 stitches per inch in stockinette stitch worked in the round.
