Tuscan Door

Share a little about the materials, processes and techniques used to create this piece. I finished this painting three times! Went with Rheni's suggestion to soften the door and roof:) With each painting it is nice to walk away with something new to add to the "Toolbox". Thanks Rheni!

Q&A with Silvana Calvano

AZV Art asked:
Is this your most recent? It has a very dreamy quality!
Silvana Calvano answered:
Yes, Anna, I just finished this one. Thanks for your feedback :)
Rheni Tauchid asked:
Sylvana & Anna, your styles are overlapping....! I agree with Anna that this has a very dreamy quality. I particularly like the impressionist quality of the flowers on the left. The only thing is that as most of the painting has a blurry feel to it, the wooden overhang over the door now stands out as being a bit too bold and uniform in colour. Maybe softening it with some diffused highlights?
Silvana Calvano answered:
Thank you so much for your feedback Rheni! I do agree that the door and overhang are a bit too bold and realized this even after posting the first time.. I then added some layers of glaze to soften a little ....ran out of glaze...hahahaa ...and was afraid to mess it up ...so I left it alone. I did go ahead and varnish it ...could I still work over the varnish and then re varnish?
Betty Diesner asked:
Oh Silvana! Love this homely feeling in your painting. Next....Lol.
Silvana Calvano answered:
Betty, thanks again for taking the time to comment....you are inspiring me to keep pushing forward :)
ollamok asked:
Is this to be like towards the impressionist type of art? I see it. Again, I love your art. And, love to know how long you have been at this. I just stumbled across this sight. Apparentlyt you love the classses? Tell me which one's you like best.....I am having surgery on August 27th to take out metal from left knee to left hip....allergic to metal and it has been causing Lupus like reactions for a bout 5 yeers..so will have time to take online painting class
Silvana Calvano answered:
I have purchased a quite a few workshops from Craftsy, but only completed a couple. I really enjoyed "Acrylic Painters Toolbox". Another class that I think may be suited for you would be "Painting Trees in Acrylic"...take a look at the class projects! I find them to be very impressive :) Good luck with your surgery and your art. Wishing you a very speedy recovery!!!
Vera OBrien asked:

Silvana Calvano answered:
