Q&A with Sally Melville

sunflowerfibers asked:
would love this pattern
Sally Melville answered:
The basics of the squares--and the rectangles that then produce the front and back--are part of the class materials. The yoke and sleeves are just like the class project's but would need to be re-gauged. The complete pattern was too complex for the class materials. And, honestly, the garment took 2 months to knit! So I did not think it suitable for the class materials. BUT the full pattern is available here on Craftsy under my patterns.
sfknitting asked:
I've started swatching to make a mitered squares sweater and have a couple of questions. 1) Do you think that it's necessary to use a twisted stitch in order to maintain a better shape of each square? I've seen it recommended in Maie Landra's book "Knits from a Painter's Palette", however, it's more time consuming and I'm wondering how much of a difference it makes. 2) How much advance color composition and layout did you do and/or do you recommend?
Sally Melville answered:
I do not know anything about a twisted stitch recommendation. I did not use one. Where is it established? No, I did not plan. BUT I did pick my colours, settling on anything with gray, green, brown in it. The other option is to remember that three times or more makes a design!
