Q&A with Laura Nelkin

irene1412232 asked:
Is the solid-color Contexta afghan made of separate knitted elements sewn or crocheted together?
Laura Nelkin answered:
Yes, separate Octagons and Mitered Squares are made... they are then joined together... you can choose how to do that joining, with crochet, 3 needle bind off, or simply mattress stitching them. It is up to you! The class goes over all three methods! I preferred crocheting mine, but that is because I love crocheting and don't get to do it often enough!
mmeisel asked:
I would like to order supplies at the same time I place the order for the course. Would you please post the type and amount of yarn needed to make the afghan (solid color)? The needle sizes would be helpful as well so I know if I need to purchase any.
Laura Nelkin answered:
Hi! Sure, I just added it above as well! I used 12 skeins of Oatmeal Heather in Cloudborn FIbers Superwash Merino Worsted Twist and US Size 7 (4.5 mm) needles... but keep in mind that your gauge might be different than mine and you may use a needle size bigger or smaller than that!
annasv10426900 asked:
What is the required yardage for the afghan please?

How do I download my pattern?
Laura Nelkin answered:
It is available in the course materials in the class.... let me know if you can't find it!
