Pattern Details

In the coldest of seasons, a sturdy pair of mittens in a dense, impenetrable fabric will keep hands much warmer than gloves. Add a heavily cabled panel along the top to maximize their wind resistance and you won’t want to leave home without them. This pair are knit with squishy worsted weight wool in six sizes (XXS/XS/S/M/L/XL) for children, teens, and adults. For best insulation use a lofty, strong wool that traps air and forms a cohesive fabric surface. Substituting yarn and/or needles may result in an overall variation in size. Finished Size: 5.5(6.5)[7, 8, 9, 10] inches in circumference (blocked) to fit hands up to 5.5(6.5)[7, 8, 9, 10] inches around palm Note: children’s sizes appear in (parens) while youth/adult sizes appear in [brackets] Gauge: 18 sts and 26 rows = 4 inches in stockinette on larger needles (knit flat; unblocked)

I am the owner of Knitspot - knitting patterns, clubs, and artisan yarns. I am a life-long knitter with a background in the fashion and graphic design fields, and began designing clothing, knitwear and accessories during the 1970s. I teach and write about knitting, spinning, and designing at my blog, Knitspot. I live and work in Ohio with David, who loves wool, too. My design work/profile has been included in Knitty, The Knitter, Interweave Knits, and Twist Collective, Sock Club, Brave New Knits, as well as several upcoming publications. The complete catalog of Knitspot patterns is available for browsing and purchasing at http://www.knitspot.com/knitting_pattern/index.php Knitspot yarn clubs are reknowned for perfect pairings of luxury yarn and design, as well as the rollicking good fun in our Ravelry clubhouse where members meet, chat, and knit through club projects together. http://www.knitspot.com/clubs/index.html Our Bare Naked yarns are as close to the farm as a knitter can get, using fresh fiber produce from regional growers which is then spun into yarn at smaller artisan mills with which I have worked over the years. The collection is focused on single-breed pure wool yarns and exotic blends, with colors that range an entire array of natural tones—yarn the way nature made it. http://knitspot.com/knitting_pattern/yarn-c-21.html
