I love the romantic look of renaissance headwear in Italy. I wanted to create something that Juliette Capulet might have worn. It's also a really fun "quilting" technique that I adapted to work for circular knitting. Challenging, but not difficult, and definitely not boring. :) BASIC SKILLS NECESSARY Cast on, knit, purl, slip stitches, increase, decrease, circular needles, double-pointed needles, cast off, french knot embroidery. GAUGE 5 stitches per inch in garter stitch, with smaller needles. SUGGESTED YARN 300 yards of Worsted weight PREFERRED BRAND/YARN A soft, silky blend of worsted weight yarns. COLORWAY Picking the colours for this is great fun. Be bold or demure. It all works.

Recommended with this pattern

  • 2 X 50 gm balls of worsted weight yarn. One for color A, and one for color B. We used Noro Cash Iroha (now discontinued) for the models. Brown Sheep Lamb's Pride Worsted also works beautifully. You will also need a 16 inch circular needle in the size needed to get gauge (we used size 7), a 16 inch circular needle one size larger than needed to get gauge, four doubled pointed needles in the larger of the two sizes, a stitch marker, and a tapestry needle.
