Summer Days is a fun little girly shrug/bolero, the one that you put on during those chilly early summer mornings and late summer evenings, or during those rainy spells that bring a bit of a chill to the air. Summer Days also makes a great layering piece to wear through the rest of the year. This little shrug is completely seamless and is worked from the top down. I have used an amazing technique developed by Susie Myers, "contiguous set-in sleeves", that allows set-in sleeves and shoulder shaping without using short rows. Sleeves are worked at the same time as the rest of the shrug/bolero. Only the sleeve cuffs are worked using dpn's or circular needles, the rest of the garment is worked flat. BASIC SKILLS NECESSARY knit, purl pick up stitches GAUGE 24 sts x 34 rows = 10 cm/4 inches SIZING / FINISHED MEASUREMENTS 13 sizes for 6 months - 14 years old; to fit 17"- 30" chest SUGGESTED YARN 160 yards of Sport weight PREFERRED BRAND/YARN Colour Adventures

Recommended with this pattern

  • stitch markers
  • stitch holders/waste yarn
  • 3.5 mm/US #4 needles

'Follow Me' to be notified of new patterns and project updates! My name is Elena Nodel, and I am a mom to a very industrious, busy, ever curious and adventurous little girl. She is my ever present inspiration for all my creative ideas. As she grows, she becomes more and more involved in my creative work, and actually does have a say in a final look of any given project. I have a Girly Girl, thus most of my designs are very feminine. However, lately I have started working on more unisex projects. I was born and raised in Russia, a place where knitting is a part of the lifestyle. I now live in British Columbia, Canada, one of the most beautiful countries in the world. I am a trained microbiologist/immunologist , and have spent years doing scientific research. I am married to a like scientist, and his name is Peter. I am truly blessed to have such a wonderful and supportive husband, and Maya is very lucky to have a father who constantly encourages her natural curiosity, and teaches her about the world around her - she has him wrapped very tightly around her little finger! I love working with natural fibers such as cotton or wool, and always try to use them. One thing I don't like doing is seaming, therefore I knit in the round as much as possible. It is great for me and comfortable for kids. And as a result, I usually design my garments to be worked in the round from the top down. Dare to follow?
