Pattern Details

Walking on the beach in the small fishing town of Puerto Morelos, I came upon Mrs Crosby. I knew by the drink in her hand and yarn on her lap that we would be fast friends. Our conversation moved fluidly between so many topics. Mostly revolving around patterns, rhythms, and sequences; found in nature, found in mathematics, pleasing to the eye. The cowl begins with a Fibonacci Integer Sequence rib and drifts into some pretty patterned lace work. This pattern was made to showcase the quickly changing colors in Mrs Crosby yarns with beautifully long sections of stockinette and geometric lace. Gauge is not crucial to this pattern, unless you want to achieve the size of the sample. This pattern uses all of one skein of Mrs Crosby Hat Box. With the lace panel, the cowl does gain size in blocking. BASIC SKILLS NECESSARY knit, purl, yarn over, k2tog GAUGE 23st x 34 rows, blocked SIZING / FINISHED MEASUREMENTS 10" x 44" blocked SUGGESTED YARN 317 yards of Sport weight PREFERRED BRAND/YARN Mrs Crosby Loves to Play COLORWAY Bahama Woodstar

I learned to knit from my grandmother when I was 6. She started my love of crafting with knitting, embroidery, sewing, paper dolls and beading. My focus in life has always been big picture, so I find great pleasure in spending time with detailed projects where I can lose a day in the enjoyment of the project. Knitting is my first love, because of the adaptability and variety. I enjoy lace, fair isle, stranded and garment knitting. Designing patterns is always something that I have done for myself, designing for a larger audience is my next challenge. I teach knitting at Fancy Tiger, instructing in 101, 201 (hats), lace, fair isle, socks and specialty classes. I get my beading fix by making stitch markers, which sell locally and on etsy. Lately, I have been hand sewing with appliqué, beads and reverse appliqué in Alabama Chanin style. I live with the love of my life, my very supportive husband, Bill, and our black lab, AJ, who runs a close second in my adoration. We spend time hiking, biking, camping and enjoying the beautiful Colorado mountains when I am not crafting.
