Pattern Details

Fingerless mitts are fun and fast, a project to play with—work this pair in two colors for a complex look of playful patterning created by slipped stitches. Choose high contrast colors for the most impact or a more harmonious pairing for a subtly shifting effect. Pick a variegated handpaint or nearly solid yarn to highlight the depth and texture of the stitchwork. The pattern includes three sizes (S/M/L) and has a fitted thumb gusset; it is a good choice for very soft yarns as the slip stitch patterns lend stability to the final fabric. Substituting yarn and/or needles may result in an overall variation in size and elasticity. Sample is shown in size Medium, in Asylum Fibers Funny Farm, in colorways exclusive to the Knitspot Mood Swings club and Better Breakfast Fingering in Mocha and Porridge.

I am the owner of Knitspot - knitting patterns, clubs, and artisan yarns. I am a life-long knitter with a background in the fashion and graphic design fields, and began designing clothing, knitwear and accessories during the 1970s. I teach and write about knitting, spinning, and designing at my blog, Knitspot. I live and work in Ohio with David, who loves wool, too. My design work/profile has been included in Knitty, The Knitter, Interweave Knits, and Twist Collective, Sock Club, Brave New Knits, as well as several upcoming publications. The complete catalog of Knitspot patterns is available for browsing and purchasing at Knitspot yarn clubs are reknowned for perfect pairings of luxury yarn and design, as well as the rollicking good fun in our Ravelry clubhouse where members meet, chat, and knit through club projects together. Our Bare Naked yarns are as close to the farm as a knitter can get, using fresh fiber produce from regional growers which is then spun into yarn at smaller artisan mills with which I have worked over the years. The collection is focused on single-breed pure wool yarns and exotic blends, with colors that range an entire array of natural tones—yarn the way nature made it.
