Pattern Details

Can you ever have enough linen in your closet? This lovely linen-cotton blend boasts great stitch definition and lovely drape for this modern short-sleeved top. A knit cotton-linen piece has the advantage of getting better the more you wear it—wearing and washing softens the fibres. This top is worked in two flat pieces, is seamed together, and then the short sleeves and bottom hem are worked in the round. The lacy pattern is striking, yet easy to remember so it’s not too taxing on the brain (you can still watch TV while making this piece once you get into the rhythm of it!). YARN Nina by Tahki, S. Charles (50 g / 125 m, 77% linen, 23% cotton) Color 4. Balls: 6/7/8/9/11. NEEDLES 3.25” needle (or size required to obtain gauge) and a set of double-pointed needles in same size. GAUGE 24 sts x 28 rows = 4” in pattern repeat. - Work a gauge swatch by casting on 27 sts and working the 10-row pattern on the next page for at least 3 reps. MEASUREMENTS/SIZING 36/40/44/48/52” (to be worn with 2-3” positive ease). OTHER MATERIALS REQUIRED 3 mm crochet hook, sewing needle, pins, stitch marker.

As a freelance copy editor and transcriptionist (and a student again as well!), I happily work for myself from home, which generally allows me to knit and craft and create when the mood strikes. For me, knitting and crocheting has evolved from a hobby to an all-consuming passion (some would say obsession). Inspiration for my designs is drawn from all over the place, including past travels -- from Turkey to Kyrgyzstan and many places in between.
