Pattern Details

High Rise is a funky, textural triangular shawl knit using the condo stitch and basic garter stitch. With its super long wingspan and generous height, you can wrap yourself in warmth this fall and winter! Grab your favorite DK weight yarn and cast on this easy, breezy shawl! This is a great project to show off variegated and speckled yarn! Use all one color, or mix it up and add stripes for extra pizazz! I knit two different versions of this shawl so you can see how a solid yarn will really show off the stitch pattern, and that the simplicity of the pattern will really let a variegated or speckled yarn shine! Skill level: This is an awesome shawl for a knitter of any skill level, with only knitting and no purling, and very simple increases used. Size and Gauge: One size; 66” / 167 cm wingspan by 30” / 76 cm height. 14 sts x 8 rows = 4” / 10cm in condo stitch. Both size and gauge were measured after blocking. The condo stitch makes the fabric grow quickly, both in length and in width, and creates waves of different widths. This is natural and adds dimension to the shawl. Yarn: 660 yds / 604 m DK weight yarn Shown in: Speckled: Less than 2 skeins La Bien Aimee BFL DK in Rainbow Graffiti for main body. Less than 2 skeins O-Wool Legacy DK in Bee Balm for edge. Solid: Less than 4 skeins O-Wool Legacy DK in Natural for main body, and less than 2 skeins in Raincloud for edge. Needles: Small: 40” or longer US 5 / 3.75mm circular needles Large: 40” or longer US 15 / 10mm circular needles (interchangeable circular needles will also work, if you have the sizes needed to obtain gauge) Tools: tapestry needle for weaving in ends, large stitch markers, removable stitch marker Photo credit: Ruth Hart Mowry
