Pattern Details

Company’s Coming is a chunky, modern throw with four tassels accenting the corners. This blanket is very easy to knit with super bulky yarn. The pattern includes instructions for three throw blanket sizes…as well as queen and king size bed runners (accent blankets for the end of the bed). Knit an easy chunky throw or bed runner to add texture and interest to your home when company’s coming! (This is also a very easy and relaxing project to work on when company’s coming!) Knit flat, in one piece, back and forth on US size 15 circular knitting needles. DIRECTIONS FOR FIVE SIZES: Approximate sizes after blocking… Small Throw: 35.25” wide x 40” long Medium Throw: 38” wide x 50” long Large Throw: 43.5” wide x 54” long Queen Bed Runner: 24.25” wide x 80” long King Bed Runner: 24.25” wide x 96” long Dimensions do not include length added by 6” long tassels. It’s easy to make any of the blanket sizes longer. Pattern includes estimates for additional yardage needed to make blankets longer. SKILL LEVEL: Very Easy / Beginner You will need to know how to cast on stitches, knit and purl confidently, read a row by row knitting pattern, bind off stitches and weave in ends. Pattern includes detailed step-by-step photo illustrated instructions for making tassels. For best results, blocking of finished blanket is recommended. SUPER BULKY YARN: Small Throw: 540 - 565 yards Medium Throw: 700 - 725 yards Large Throw: 900 - 940 yards Queen Bed Runner: 740 - 770 yards King Bed Runner: 900 - 940 yards Yardage for 4 tassels included. If more tassels are desired, add at least 15 yards per additional 6” tassel. This pattern will work well with many super bulky weight yarns. I loved using Lion Brand Hometown USA in ‘Dallas Grey’. This yarn is very soft and has an attractive subtle sheen that gives a modern vibe. You may also experiment with knitting two strands of bulky or worsted weight yarn together…remember you will need about twice as much yardage! Be sure to buy additional yarn if you plan to add length to your blanket. GAUGE: Stockinette stitch with US size 15 needles: approximately 9 stitches & 11 rows = 4” Exact gauge is not essential. However, for desired appearance it should be close. NEEDLES: In order to accommodate the large number of stitches, long circular needles are highly recommended. Written pattern with row by row instructions. This pattern uses standard U.S. knitting terms. Read more about this pattern on my blog: http://bit.ly/CompanysComing5410

I have been knitting since I was about 8 years old. My mother taught me to knit and my parents encouraged me to explore all kinds of arts & crafts activities by providing me with the materials that I needed to create. As a girl, I loved to sew (I spent hours using my mother’s sewing machine making clothes for my dolls), knit, draw and paint. In high school I spent all my extra time at school hanging out in the art room. In college I worked at a cute little yarn shop. Many years later...I started designing and publishing knitting patterns in November 2013...I love it! I love giving hand knit gifts to my friends and family. I love to see the smile on their faces when they open the gift I made for them. I hope that you enjoy using my knitting patterns to create special projects for your home, friends & family.
