Capricious is the adult version of my "Sweet Poppy" cardigan. The design is inspired by memories of my childhood places; from hot desert roads, through fields upon fields of wild flowers, to the shores of Mediterranean Sea. "Capricious" is my vision of poppy fields, always moving in the breeze, always colorful, and always simply unforgettable. The cardigan is completely seamless and is worked from the top down. I have used an amazing technique developed by Susie Myers, "contiguous set-in sleeves", that allows shoulder shaping and construction of set-in sleeves without the use of a single short row The pattern is written for DK gauge. You can use dk, sport, 4-ply yarn for this project as long as you can get gauge. Lighter weight yarns are recommended for a drapier cardigan. BASIC SKILLS NECESSARY increase, decrease, cable, circular knitting GAUGE 22 sts x 29 rows = 4 inches in stockinette stitch on 4mm needles or size to obtain gauge. 'Follow Me' to be notified of new patterns and project updates! My name is Elena Nodel, and I am a mom to a very industrious, busy, ever curious and adventurous little girl. She is my ever present inspiration for all my creative ideas. As she grows, she becomes more and more involved in my creative work, and actually does have a say in a final look of any given project. I have a Girly Girl, thus most of my designs are very feminine. However, lately I have started working on more unisex projects. I was born and raised in Russia, a place where knitting is a part of the lifestyle. I now live in British Columbia, Canada, one of the most beautiful countries in the world. I am a trained microbiologist/immunologist , and have spent years doing scientific research. I am married to a like scientist, and his name is Peter. I am truly blessed to have such a wonderful and supportive husband, and Maya is very lucky to have a father who constantly encourages her natural curiosity, and teaches her about the world around her - she has him wrapped very tightly around her little finger! I love working with natural fibers such as cotton or wool, and always try to use them. One thing I don't like doing is seaming, therefore I knit in the round as much as possible. It is great for me and comfortable for kids. And as a result, I usually design my garments to be worked in the round from the top down. Dare to follow?
