I shot this project for my book, Freeform Wire Art Jewery, but didn't love how it fit in and found the photography color a little off. We decided instead to format it similarly to the book and make it available for free! This should give you an idea of how I teach and what the book is like. This was meant to be the final project in the book so you won't get any of the basic or organic instruction here. In this project, we will use a series of top-drilled slabs, along with some coordinating round beads, to build a completely freeform necklace with no structural frame. This is a very advanced project, and you should have a firm grasp of the organic techniques in the book before attempting it. You need to be confident in making curls, organic designs and structural connections. BASIC SKILLS NECESSARY Work with wire Create freeform curls (see book for more!) Use wire pliers Hey I have a Craftsy Class! Organic Wire-Wrapped Pendants. Check it out:

Recommended with this pattern

I'm a self-representing Cape Breton wire artist with a dozen years of experience writing clear instructions for online, adult learners. I love curriculum development almost as much as I love making jewellery! The two are combining beautifully with my online tutorials. Through all the art forms I've explored - painting, digital art, clay sculpting, web design, paper art, and calligraphy - my love of colour has guided me to new discoveries. Now, over a decade of self-teaching has produced my distinctive, spontaneous style of wire-sculpted art jewellery. My pieces weave non-tarnish wire around a wide range of stimulating materials. The warmth of semi-precious gemstones, the unlimited, variegated colours of firepolished glass, and the fascinating textures & history of beach glass all lend their own character to each one-of-a-kind creation. In my steampunk-inspired line, the patina of vintage, salvaged materials contrasts sharply with the bright & modern designs in the surrounding wire. I love to create and I love to teach and share with others. I hope I can help you find a new technique or pattern you'll love!
