Embroidered Sugar Skull Throw Pillow

I got the idea for this sugar skull from one featured in a Craftsy class, but made my own pattern from a free cross-stitch pattern available on the Joann Fabrics & Crafts web site (see screenshot of pattern, attached). I used this project as an alternative sampler for the class, Startup Library: Hand Embroidery, which I highly recommend. To steal (and alter) the motto of quilting queen Angela Walters, "If embroidery is my therapy, then threads are my meds!" I bought many skeins of DMC embroidery floss for this class, including all the ones recommended and about 100 more. You can pick them up for 52 cents per skein if you shop carefully online. I highly recommend 123stitch.com.
