Are you ready for a fabulous combination of easy-wear comfort and stunning style? Then youre ready for sweatshirt makeovers made easy! Join sewing and embroidery expert Cindy Losekamp and make the transformation from a simple sweatshirt to season-spanning, designer jacket success. During class, youll create two versatile styles of jackets that you wont believe were once sweaters: one with a curved, bound edge and machine-embroidered accents, and another with lovely, all-over appliqué. Along the way, Cindy will equip you with both the sewing and embroidery skills you need for a custom fit, sculpted embroidered edges, savvy stabilizing and precise appliqué. Plus, with her sure-fire technique for easily ripping out embroidery, mistakes will become no matter at all!
Meet embroiderer and sewing expert Cindy Losekamp and learn more about the two kinds of sweatshirt jackets you'll make in your class. Then dive into preparing a sweatshirt for your project by removing the ribbing, finding the center front and reinforcing the fabric before cutting.
Keep the neckline of your jacket from stretching with wear by adding stabilizer, then give the sleeves a more flattering fit by shortening and tapering them. Cindy also shows you how to curve the front edges of your jacket using a template included with your class materials.
Make your own bias binding with Cindy's guidance and apply it to the edges of your jacket for a polished look. Use a matching color and thread or go for a pop of color! Cindy also shows how to sew a variety of simple hems on your sleeve cuffs and how to add frog closures using your sewing machine.
