Q&A with Tony Bluegoat

lauriebla18454601 asked:
How long had you been sketching before taking class? Are you someone who’s been sketching since you were a child or is this a new endeavor for you? Your sketches are really great.
Tony Bluegoat answered:
No I'm new to art. I took a drawing class earlier this year. It's really just a matter of finding types of drawing you like and doing the same thing until it makes sense. Most people like the idea of art but they don't spend any real time actually doing it. Pick anything and draw it. The first attempt will be poor probably. Then do it again with more patience and care. Etc. it turns out that drawing often and with intent will make anyone better very quickly. The key is to just do it. I recently took up painting. I try to paint at least 4 hours a day. Do anything that much and it's easy to get better. Even 1 hour is good. 2 is better. Just pause the tv and sketch what you see. Then watch some more and pause again. I like sketching scenes from gladiator.
