Marc Taro Holmes asked:
Hey! Nice one - now - was that from life? :) Looks like something I would love to draw. Good work, nice drawing - elegant curves. Particularly hard to draw poses of feet - that was trick - extra good job there. Now, I would say - I think your spotting of black is getting a bit too spread around. Little touches of dark are all over the figure. For instance, on the left knee - the dark's go both on the top AND the bottom of the knee. So....I would think they can only be one shadow side right? Usually the dark accent would go tot the under-side of forms. So - I would look for ways to group up the shadow more - so there is a clear light side/ dark side. it seems like the placement of shadows is better in the color - but I still see sort of a confusion. The raised arm makes me think she is back-lit, but the raised leg makes me think she is front lit. Now - if this was not from life - it's possible that the photographer did things to make the lighting less realistic. Good one tho!

Sorry - not from life again, however i have been doing alot more of life now and will put up the projects soon :) ... and yes i ve relooked at it and you were absolutely right !! the main light source is a window above and behind her ... but the photo had some adjustments which has caused the confusion ... .. the other challenge with this is that the purple thingie that she is using to pull her leg up needs to show tension which i ve lost :( Wasnt too happy with this one.
