Kumasi design by Edie Eckman for Caron

This pattern by Edie Eckman is in the Fall, 2011 issue of Crochet! Magazine. It's rated as experienced skill but I found it to be quick and easy - granny squares combined with solid crochet. Edie's Joining Crochet Motifs class and her Fantastic Finishes class provided lots of help and confidence to complete this beautiful afghan quickly. I counted all the granny square centers needed in each color and used TV time to make them up. I also used TV time to sew in ends after I completed each of the 5 strips. Steam blocking the strips to chart size before joining is necessary. I joined the strips with sc every other stitch. Also steam block the border when added. This was fun to make (I'm keeping this one)! Thank you Edie Eckman. I am a hugh fan! DebbyC

Q&A with DebbyC801

cricket52 asked:
where can I find a material list and a pattern?
DebbyC801 answered:
The pattern and materials list can be downloaded from ravelry.com. search Kumasi throw which will take you to a Kumasi.PDF to download. You can also download this pdf at naturallycaron.com which takes you to a yarnspiration.com pattern page with this pattern under the letter K link. I used lionbrand woolease and Vanna's choice. The naturally caron yarn is discontinued. Pinterest shows the afghan in different color ways. Search Kumasi on Pinterest too. Have fun making this afghan.
