I LOVE patterns that help me use up all those bits and pieces of yarn that hide amongst the full skeins in my stash. You know, those pesky little hand-wrapped bits of coloured softness that you just can't part with, but never seem to make anything with. This square motif will let you make squares of any size to be sewn together, or ONE BIG SQUARE. BASIC SKILLS NECESSARY Ch, Sl st, Dc Read a pattern. Read a symbol diagram GAUGE Varies. You will want to use all yarns of the same weight to make this motif, and if you make many motifs to sew together, they will need to all be the same yarn thickness, too. You will notice that in some brands of yarn, certain colours appear thicker that others. This isn't your eyes playing tricks on you... certain dyes are absorbed more, causing the yarn to puff up. It's best to avoid these thicker yarns unless you have about half and half evenly distributed throughout the project.
