How to Make Adorable Tulip Cake Pops: No Watering Needed!

Nothing says spring like an arrangement of bright yellow tulips! What better way to celebrate the season than with a beautiful arrangement display of edible tulip cake pops — they’re really simple to make and easily customizable to match any party theme!

You’ll need:

Line your work surface wax paper.

Shaping the tulips

Use a cookie scoop to portion the dough so all pieces are uniform in size. The cake pop dough consistency is the key to creating smooth cake pops. Please refer to this tutorial for making your cake pop dough to become familiar with the process.

For tightly closed tulips

Tulip Cake PopsStep 1:

Roll cake pop dough portion into a ball and then into a droplet. Place the pieces on a wax paper-lined cookie sheet and refrigerate.

Use a non serrated butter knife to create indents to mimic petal edges around the droplet shape. Be sure to exaggerate the indentations for more definition as the coating will fill the crevices.

For bloomed tulips

Roll cake pop dough into a ball and then into a drum shape.

Tulip Cake PopsStep 2:

Use a rounded end of a utensil (bottom end of a butter knife handle pictured here) to create a divot on one end of the drum. It should be big enough so that you can stick your finger about ¼  inch into it. This end will be the top side of the flower.

Use a non serrated butter knife to create indents to mimic petal edges around the drum shape. Be sure to exaggerate the indentations for more definition as the coating will fill the crevices.

Using your fingertips, carefully press out the tops of each petal, flattening each ‘panel’, giving the flower the bloomed effect. Place the pieces on a wax paper-lined cookie sheet and refrigerate.

Dipping the tulips

Please refer to this tutorial for handling candy coating and dipping, before starting these steps to become familiar with the process.

Tulip Cake PopsStep 1:

In a small microwave safe bowl, melt green wafers. I like to use a combination of light green and green wafers to get the hue I prefer, but feel free to use one shade or the other.

In another microwave safe bowl, melt the yellow (or color of choice) wafers. Thin the candy coating out using paramount crystals. We want the coating on the thinner side so the indentation detail doesn’t get lost.

Step 2:

Remove flower pieces from the fridge.

Dip a cake pop stick a few inches into the green candy coating and push it into the bottom of the flowers until it’s about halfway through the flower. Do this for all the pieces. You want the green to cover about ⅓ of the stick. Let dry completely.

Dip the flowers into the yellow candy coating. Gently shake of excess as it hangs upside down. Use toothpicks to pierce any air bubbles while still wet. Place on cake pop stand and let dry completely.

Tulip cake pops can be displayed like regular tulips! Fill a vase with granulated sugar or pastel candies and arrange the cake pops like you would the real flower.
